I cannot get my window and vent back into my door. It's a 1955 2nd series. How exactly does it fit back into place? Also any help with the guide tracks?

I don't have a shop manual! Thanks!

Starting with the door panel off and all parts removed from the door, I put my vent subassembly into position first, but left it loose. Then I put in the crank mechanism, loosely. Finally I lowered in the side glass and fit the pieces together.

By guide tracks are you talking the felt channel that is like an upside down L? If so, I put this in last. I dropped the side glass 90% of the way down, the pushed/coerced/crammed the channel from the outside into the small space between the glass and the frame adjacent to the door latch. It is hard to get it started, but once started, you can then push it down until the upper (horizontal) section mates with the frame. I had to use more elbow grease than I expected.

Like Bill said: not easy, but with patience it's do-able.

I just went thru the same thing with my 55 2nd. When I disassembled everything last winter it was so worn out that all the pieces came out easily. Reassembly with all new parts was considerably harder. I finally had to resort to following the repair manual TO THE LETTER. Everything went together correctly on this 4th attempt. The first 3 tries had scuffed up my new paint on the window frame. Now I have that to touch up, but the window and vent look and operate like new. Good luck.

I was told the window goes in first and is lowered 3/4 of the way down. The side vent is then placed in. And then the window is raised into place. That sounds too easy? I need help aligning the three tracks, the two that go on under the window and the bottom one that aligns along the middle of the door? And how do I set the guide screws? Are the wheels on the inside of the guide screws or the inside of them?

yes the window first can work, might take 4 hands .... not clear about these 3 tracks, there is one channel that attaches to the bottom of the glass sash, then 1 short piece that should be welded to the inside of the door - there are arms on the regulator with wheels that slot into those, no "alignment" necessary or possible .... the track piece on the bottom of the glass needs to be slipped onto the regulator arm wheels when it's all inside the door
