I'm replacing all lines, hoses, wheel and master cylinder on a 1949 short bed. I have found everything except the "T"'s for joining 3 lines. These bolt to the frame rail and the 3 lines connect. Also the "T" that mounts to the rear axle for the 3 lines there.
Are these parts still available or is there another option?
TIA guys

Don,

Should be able to pick these up at a local auto parts store. My advice is to make sure you have the lines in hand that you want to run and that way if need be they can also provide the adapter to the tee.

Is there anything wrong with the originals? Bad threads? bunged up seats? cracked? Those parts really don't wear, and should be reusable after a good cleaning. The one that these trucks use is also somewhat specific to application, as the mounting stud is part of the the T. If you do need to replace it, it is most likley 3/16" line, standard double flare. Very common. Some trucks do use 1/4" line, but that seems to be mostly 3/4 ton ans larger, along with the 3200 1/2 tons after '55. You should not need any adapters.

A friend of mine recently told me that he found that a lot of Hysters (tow motors) use these and can be found cheaper than most vendors are selling them for. I did not ask what hyster or what models but if there is a "hyster" place around close it may pay to investigate. He found some for his 51 just this past summer.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

NOPA at NAPA, DANPA. Dorman doesn't make the ones with the stud anymore and I couldn't find the tee in the back at any of the several dozen stores that we have in the western suburbs either.

Ya found the right place, Between JC, Chevs of the 40's and The Filling Station they will have what ya need, all be it a bit costly but your probably only gonna have to replace them once in your lifetime.

We've been through this argument many times before but I've found that the seats in the brass inverted flare fittings are usually deformed after installation of the steel lines and that you are just asking for a leak if you re-use the fittings. Now correct me Bill if Im wrong, but you've said in the past that you do this for a living and that you re-use them all the time and never have leaks. Maybe that's the difference between a professional mechanic and me, a backyard mechanic. Anyway I just finished another complete brake system on a friends 3100 with all new fittings and he hasn't spilled a drop of brake fluid yet and my system done the same way is as tight today as it was when I did it a couple of years ago. It's my personal opinion that if we had reused the originl fittings we would have been chasing leaks still.

I was able to find all I needed at NAPA except the correct junction at the rear-end which I got from Jim Carter.
