I have seen trailer mounting brackets for leaf springs sold at the farm and home store. Why wouldn't they work for mounting leaf springs? Are they not load rated enough?

Conceptually what would be the difference between what Chassis Enginnering or street rod companies sell and what you can buy for making trailers?

Is it that the trailer mounts are for flat stock?

I have a 46 Ford that will need parrelel leaf springs and I don't want to pay $131.00 for the brackets they sell if I can get them for $40.00 at the local store.

Also I want to trade out the closed driveline on my 53 chevrolet truck for a rearend from a 77 chevy truck. Do you just weld the mounts on the axle to meet where the original axle goes?

Are you talking about the spring perches that weld to the axle tubes? If so, I haven't ever found any at the tractor supply stores that are as wide as the automotive leaf springs, just the narrow little trailer springs. If you are needing the torque plate that the U-bolts go through, all you need are the plates that are as wide as your springs and U-bolts and are made with a heavy enough guage steel. Hope this is what you are needing,
