A while ago i made mention of what WD40 had done w/ their new nozzle
i did NOT say a *?@! thing about the [fluid] product, ONLY the dual spray nozzle

I GOT beat up by a couple folks here about how i should use a better product. sorry i don't hear those folks so well.

while reading my recent ''airhead'' BMW newsletter reference is made to a test in 4/2007 ''Machinist's Workshop''
http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/ in this article they compared the average torque load to loosen a bolt using various products. I know nothing about how the test was run so DON"T brough beat me over this. OK
as listed::
no oil = 516 pounds [#'s]
WD-40 = 238 #'s
PB Blaster = 214 #'s
Liquid Wrench = 127 #'s
Kano Kroil = 106 #'s
ATF/ Acetone [50-50 mix] = 53#'s

the last atf/acetone is a garage home made mix.
liquid wrench did almost as well as kroil BUT costs 20% of what kroil costs !!!!!!!

note that acetone is hazardous but the mix works better
your choice guys even the @$?! folks who gave me $>%{

This test was picked apart over on OldGMCtrucks.com. Let's see what you guys can do with it.

Let me tell you of an observation I made the past couple weeks. I have a set of ram horn headers that all of the studs have twisted off.
Well, the studs do not go all the way through the hole which leaves a recess in the top. Now, I sprayed the recess full of BP BLASTER on the first header the guy brought me to try. It did soak down but the stud still twisted into.

NEXT... seeing the header worked the guy brought me the other one with the cross over pipe still attached to it. I soaked ONE of the stud recess's with LIQUID WRENCH... It did NOT soak down and was still puddled on top of the stud the next day.

AND.... I soaked another stud with Kroil. It DID soak down, like the PB Blaster.

Conclusion: the liquid wrench is out in my book.
Even though the PB and the Kroil soaked down the studs still twisted into. Perhaps because they had almost rusted into?

Over the years I have tried it all. Over the long haul I favor the Kroil over the PB even though it is a little costlier.

What does all this mean. Well, its not scientific but for me, in my neck of the woods, I just give the nod to Kroil.

OH, and as for the test the guy did. You need at least about 20 "data points" or test results before starting to draw a conclusion. Those of you that know a little about statistical control know what I mean. Basically you don't just do one test but many.... and then you may learn only that stuff is still "inconsistent"!!
