On my '27 under the seat was some old wrenches and old carb and roll the drum...... a mouse nest! Yes it's true. Hard to believe isn't it.

The entire bed of the truck was FILLED with parts from a few different trucks. Also some interesting things behind the seat. Here's a short list...

Two flat tires, 3 headlight buckets, original driveshaft, engine head, oil pan, sections of the exhaust, 4 door handles, distributor, door window, one brake drum, speedo cable, running board splash aprons, and more.

I think the former owner was going to use the parts in the truck, but they may be the originals.

Just picked up my truck last weekend so I figured I'd clean it out today. Found pliers, channel locks, misc bolts, pencils, deicer, bad antifreeze and the I'm glad I was wearing latex gloves, some old fruit of the loom underwear that were hidden in the cab corner.

When got my 54 3/4 ton dually home, it had been a farm truck, still had old wheat in the bed, found some kernals of corn on the frame. Under the seat was a wooden handled tire pump, tire irons for breaking down the split rims, home made lug wrenches(sockets with a piece of steel welded to the socket) glove box full of COOP pencils, pens, tape measure, old weight ticket, spare fuses, points, condenser,rotor and a wallet the old owner keep insurance registration in ( thought I had hit the jack pot when found the wallet), spare keys,dealer name plate, key under mat, spare distributor cap in cab corner. Hammer, pliers,wooden handle screw driver under seat may be part of original tool kit not sure. It was a real time machine, Was setting on main street of small Kansas town with the keys in the ignition, when I went to pick it up, Hard to believe some places are still safe to do that. Truck was used till they took the lift out of the COOP to lift the trucks without a bed hoist, Runs like a top, a real survivor.

I found an owners manual for a 66 GMC for gasoline models 4000 thru 9500(including L3500) in my 55 second series 3100.

I didn't have anything cool, but in the midwest we have wasps that make their nests out of mud. My truck was parked in a barn for 15-20 years...the underside of everything was covered in dried mud wasp nests- underneath the dash, hood, wheel wells, inside the heater, everywhere! I could win an award for "muddiest truck that was never in a flood"

When i went to pickup my 55 teh owner was kind enough to help me unload 8 trash bags full of cans out of the bed. Got it home to discover a pool liner that still had water in it in the bed, real old rake. In the cab i came across a box of brake lining rivets, registrations dating back to 57, Had wasps in teh tailgate but nothing in the cab. Found a HUGE hornet nest wrapped around the rear brake drum tonight when i pulled the wheel.

Best part of it is my older brother had a 55 chevy pickup also he bought years ago...he passed away in 2000 and the whereabouts of the truck are still unknown. My dad came across the title for his truck a few months back and believe it or not his truck was in sequence right after mine

Most interesting was when i was 19, (not to long ago) i bought a 88 monte carlo SS with a blown headgasket cheap, had 89k miles black and absolutely gorgeous. put a 406 in it and drove it for awhile...was running stereo wiring one day through the center console and came across a Glock 27....Full mag and one in the chamber and no serial number stuffed down in between the seat and console...aurora police came out and picked it up after a long explanation of where it came from.

when i bought my 62, i found a pouch in the glovebox that contained some real nice vintage maps of salt lake city, and the entire utah state highway system along with about 30 old Husky oil gas station receipts(some of which i am estimating are about 35 years old) and the entire history of the past owner's names and addresses! also found a service voucher booklet that only had one coupon used, a can on barbasol that seemed unused, and a few packs of razor blades. seems that my truck was made in the new york plant and has spent the last 40 years here in utah. and it spent 3 in new york, and 4 in wyoming. VERY interesting!

Well, I decided to finally clean out the 61 today, here's what I found...
Some brakeline, a vent knob, a set of roadside reflectors, still in their metal box, a bent screwdriver, a few recent receipts, one for an equestrian cap, the other for the fuel pump (which explained why it looked fairly new) and some bulbs. The guy I bought it from is supposed to be getting back to me in a bit here, he has the original owners manual for it, as well as a sales poster from 1961.

Oh, forgot to mention, it still has the original yellow Alberta commercial farm vehicle license plate on the front, dated 1961!

And I can't believe I read through 3+ years of posts and nobody can answer RustyRod on, "What is Break Fluid used for?" If you knew that Break Fluid is a good bottle of scotch, would that help?

In my 65 C-30:
I found no seat, 'cause my brother stole it to put in his son's 64 K-10, not one non-factory hole except the usual rust in the foor, no droppings/nests/animals/reptiles/insects and a suprising pauicity of dust/dirt, a pristine owners manual for this truck, two NIB (Car Quest) wheel slave cylinders (drive home included roadside emergency repair of a front tire but the brakes worked fine) and receipt (3 years old), a dead ball point pen, floor mats cut down from Yosemite Sam door mats (residential not vehicular) over rust colored foot well sized pieces of deep pile carpet. On the rear was a KS tag 2 years out of date. But it cost me $75 bucks to get in there to see 'cause the PO lost the keys and SOMEBODY locked the doors when he took the seats.

Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going to get off this thread and get a life!

I have a 58 apache. I bought it from a guy who had let it sit in a field for a long time with a broken window. Heres what I found in mine: 1 big mouse nest with mouse still in it, 8-10 wasp nests, the previous owners registration and address (from colorado nearly 15 years earlier), a musty cat pee smell, mouse poo everywhere, a few receipts, extra rims in the bed, and a gun rack.

In my 1955 first series I found six kittens behind the seat two monkey wrenches a hammer a coat and the choke nob in the drivers cab corner and some pipe fittings on the floor and mouse poop and a rope on the seat

In my 1965 Chevy C10 shortebed glovebox I found. The bill of sale from two previous owners,a small bag of fuses and a sign that read SEND HELP in bold orange letters. Under the seat was the jack with lug wrench. In the bed of the truck was a replacement tailgate.

i found a brand new gas tank in my 67 Chev panel truck along with the original hub caps tucked away. They are like new! And i also found the wood bed to be in great shape!

Nothing, I found absolutely nothing.

i found a robins nest in the drivers side stake pocket. it had 1 egg in it.

In my very first stovebolt I found a cap gun under the seat when I felt it I though UH OH when I touched it. I bought a 63 Impala that had corn growing in the trunk and a bottle of Mad Dog under the seat.

When I cleaned out my Dad's 59 Apache, I found a Dillinger style cap gun behind the gas tank that I lost when I was a kid in the late 60's. The cab corners were filled with mouse sh&* and an old dekalb seed hat. The cap gun sits on my mantle.

About a dozen mud-dauber nests, the old borken ignition in the glove box, and a comb behind the seat under the gas tank.

I was cleaning out the 3800 I just bought. I found- the owners manual, a bunch of hardware for the bed fences(glovebox), a chain and glass bottle of radiator sealer(buried under dirt in the cab corner), A set of three red emergency reflectors that are really cool and made in kansas(see pics), the original jack, the lug wrench, the original tool kit pliers, and the tire tool for lock rings. I also found match books in the glove box and the original owners last registration card. He lived in Durham ks.

I found a knob labeled "PTO" and cable in the cab of my 3/4T! Wowee, I hopped out and checked underneath. Nothing, notta, nichts...except for the end of the cable dangling.

In my '53 Beast I got the original registration,now I can't find it anywhere,on the back I got a bed from a '97 GMC dually with a hole in the middle of it for a gooseneck,so nothing in the back.

My 58 had over a hundred welding rods under the seat, and an owners manual for an overhead chainfall, dated 1961. I also found a mystery set of keys clipped to the springs on the backside of the bench seat.

Somewhere in Texas, there is someone that has been locked out of their home for over 40 years.

In my '49 Chevy sub I found: a 5gal bucket full of misc parts for the sub, including 2 clamshell tailight assemblies; one in original paint with chrome trim and glass lense, the other a wonderful very rusty patina but still moving! An extra tailgate, 3 doors a couple of wheels and tires and some other unidentifiable stuff.
When I picked up my '52 GMC sub it had in the back: a 248 ci GMC engine, transmission and two bellhousings, shift forks and a starter. A brand new in the box Fulton 1000 sun visor with original directions. 2 very nice Guide fog lamps, od green color to match the Army markings on the truck. An upholstered bomber seat a gunracks on the wall. When I pulled down the shag carpeting from the headliner there was copius amounts of mouse doo doo and hornets nests.

In my '59 I found the original owners manual and the original snow chains

I trailered mine home from southern Missouri. When we got it off the trailer we pushed it into the garage. Then we opened the door, looked at about 10 inches of debris, and pushed it back out of the garage. There had to be something alive in there.
The next morning I cleaned it out. Under the seat I found a 20 year old Club Magazine. Pretty caked together buy I got a page open to a beautiful woman named Chantelle. Bingo, I need a nice graphic for Chantelle's Speed Shop.

I found Lucky Lager Under the dash molding and 12 Ga Shell under the gas tank...

I think someone had one too many Lucky Lagers while out hunting...

The 51' had all the trim screws for the interior in a dixie cup under the seat along with a fairly well preserved Mac screwdriver. Gave the screwdriver back to my friend who owned the truck before me.

Tried to give him the momma mouse and her two babies that had taken up residence in the inner cab panel, but he did not want them back

in my 60' sbss apache i found in the back the front seat out of a newer chevy truck and a complete steering column/wheel for an automatic, in the cab i found a set of leather power bucket seats from a mystery donor vehicle, some seriously ugly blue shag carpet, a sun visor without it's cover just the cardboard, and the cut up dash with the standard holes in it from the wrong radio, and no control knobs or horn button only knobs for the lights and the vents, no glove box, and finally some seriously intense sound deadening material covering the entire floor.

Since I have had my truck for 37 yrs it is hard to remember!!! I know that I found the original owner's manual and new truck bill of sale...some no-good *#ratfink*#! stole them out of the glovebox about 5 yrs later. I also found the original engine crank behind the seat. More recently I took the seat out and found a receipt of when I stayed in a Motel in Oregon, IL, about '79, the room cost $9.78 including tax. Now the room tax is $15 and then they charge sales tax on that!!!

my resent disassembly of the cab, i found 10,000 lady bugs, mud dobber nests, spark plugs, etc. Ever wonder why they did not design the seat to fold forward?

A whole bunch of mouse turds.

Just started on cleaning the gas tank and found about an 8 inch ball of seat cushion/mouse nest inside of tank. Sending unit was out of tank. Looked good other wise. Like wise, "lot's of mouse turds".

Today I pulled the oil pan off my old 235. The oil pan was full of at least 100 crickets, many were sucked up against the wire screen. They were definitely in there when it was still running.

When I cleaned out my 54 3100 behind the seat I found a MAD magazine from the mid 70's

Because they had not thought of it yet... or it was quicker and cheaper to do.

Back then trucks were work only and stayed dirty or dusty.

Merely my thoughts on it, I'd like to know about what time American trucks started having the seat folding forward deal.

In my 1955 I found a cottage cheese container with $10 in coins. I guess my grandfather had it stashed for spare change. After it sat in Oklahoma for 13 years I also found about 3 inches of acorns and twigs. Imagine my surprise when I opened the glove box and it too was filled with a squirrels treasure! I also discovered they used it as a bathroom!

What we’ve found in the 64 LWB Stepside C10 so far:

a handful of scale tickets from a scrap yard,
small tin of glass barrel fuses,
3 speaker magnets stuck to the roof to hold notes,
ashtray full of sheetrock screws,
vinyl siding sample box,
nice tire valve core tool,
one 1157 bulb,
cutting torch goggles,
missing gas pedal but one that doesn’t fit is in the cab,
2 pair dried out/stiff work gloves,
set of new vise grips acting as the driver door handle (door handle’s in there too),
antifreeze tester (balls free),
two taco bell coupons that expired in 1996,
gunrack on the back window

Outside
hundreds of dirt dauber nests,
broken broom and broken rake handle in the bed,
¼ “ metal sheet over about a 85% rotted out floorbed,
installed HEI Unit,
wires to nowhere,
but complete, lights, trim and painted bumpers,
mounted spare tire that is dry rotted and split,
4 unmatched habcaps-3 unmatched chevy and one plastic K-mart special,
Best-working factory installed spot light.

Haven’t pulled the seat or tank yet so there may be more to come
