I was wondering what HP my 292 has. Its in a 65 LWB truck with a 3 on the tree. Also is there any modifications I can do the the 292 to get around 300 HP? Any tips of links would be great!

Check out www.inliners.org and buy Leo Santucci's book.

From most of what I've read, the biggest gains are from better flow. In other words, the stock head got no flow.
There was a good article in Hot Rod about the Chevy six a few months back. It centered mainly on Sissell's Automotive Sissell\'s and showed some interesting graphs of HP and torque gains from reworked head and fuel injection.
I'm thinkin' a 300hp 292 might not be all the streetable but, I hope I'm wrong. If you're Mr. Moneybags, just have Sissel's whip up a 292 for ya! grin

It would really be neat to have a 300hp inline, but you can build two small blocks for what that engine would cost! The 292 is a low rpm torque motor made to pull heavy trucks, gear it down and use the torque, not the rpm and it will live longer. Go to the Inliners site and check out some of the cars and trucks, then get the Power Manual about 6 cyl's and read up on all the tricks. It takes more than a cam and carburater to make 300 horse!
