Advice on: Change only the glass? (Does this just glue in? Glue?) or the Glass with the track? | | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 506 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 506 | The roll up door glass goes in a metal channel with window tape, get a little from your local glass shop. The vent wing assembly must come loose. The roll up glass goes in from the top. The vent assembly has a 1/2 inch bolt that can only be reached from the bottom with an extension. Take off the access panel at the door bottom and reach up. There are also a couple of screws under the molding that have to come out. Unless you are real patient and willing to spend some time this job is best left to the glass experts. I would say that of all the procedures on a 52, the vent windows and door glass are the most difficult to install or replace. Thats why most people go to the earlier doors with the single piece glass. There are kits to eliminate the vent assemblies. If you are doing that get the electric kits or make your own. Good luck.

I spent some time in the autobody profession for many years and still had fun install the left window. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 | Just a tip, Take a 1/8" drill bit an drill between the mountin bolts on the door skin and trough the hing, we will get back to that in a second. Take the door(s) off, get your sawhorses and a pc of plywood roughly the size of the door an a scrap pc. of carpet an lay the door down on it. Now with the door laying flat and GRAVITY not messin with ya an makin this job 10 times harder than it should be ..finanglin the glass an vent windows isnt NEAR THE CHORE IT CAN BE WITH THE DOORS ON THE TRUCK. After you get the new glass installed slide your doors back over your hinges and use the same drill bit ya used to drill the holes as a locater to get your doors back to exactly (well darn near) where they was before removin em. It makes this job SO MUCH EASIER! How I did mine and would do again if & when needed. I spent lots of intimate time with my doors fitting the cadillac regulators in there for the power windows IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE CHORE. Tim
