Hey everyone, i picked up a 1962 fleetside long bed recently and love it. A friend of a friend gave me a 89 suburban with a bad motor and i was wondering if the front end will fit into my 62. Thanks for any info.

You can make anything fit if you have fabrication and welding skills. Forgive me for asking, since I am not familiar with the '62 trucks, but doesn't your '62 already have an independent front suspension with upper and lower control arms, springs and shocks? If so, what are you planning to do with your stock set up? I'd like to upgrade my '52 3/4 ton to an IFS but I don't want to use car suspension parts; it's a truck and I want to use truck parts.

It does have IFS but i want the disc brakes. Unless there is a disk brake conversion to the original front end that i don't know about. Is there?

The '62 has torsion bar IFS. I've heard that people have swapped to the '63 to '87 IFS on those trucks, but I don't have any details.

Is the '89 Suburban still the same body style as an '87? If so the IFS is the same design as the '63 to '87 pickups.

Thanks oldsub. I actually have a front end from a mid 70's truck but the suburban one is in better shape. It is the same body style as the 87 so hopefully it will fit in mine. Guess i'll find out this summer.

As long as the front suspension unbolts from the frame it's an earlier model. The later ones had it integrated into the frame, which would require grafting, no good,
