Hi All,
I just picked up a dual carb Offenhauser for a Stovebolt 6. I'm trying to determine if it is a model 1034 (Early 216 and 235) or a model 1035 (later 235 and 261). The only casting letters are a small (3/16") A and a small R, both located just forward of the front carburetor.
Can anyone help me identify which one this is, or any other clues to solve this mystery? Its either gonna go on my 1946 with a 216 or on a full pressure 235 rebuild that I am gathering parts for.
Thanks in advance,
Possum

I think the only difference is the carb mounts. I believe the 216 vesrsion used the smaller throttle bore openings and the bolt mounting holes are closer than the 235 version?

The ports are larger on the 235-261 version, but can be adapted with reducer rings. It is possible to run either on a 216-235-261 with the right ring reducers.
The 1034 fits the 216. The 1035 fits the 235-261. This information straight out of the Offenhauser catalog.

The easiest way to see which manifold you have is to measure the carb mounting bolts. The smaller setup is for the early 216/235.

Possum,

The bolt spacing for a 216 carburetor is 2 11/16". A manifold intended for a 235 will have a larger spacing...2 15/16". This is the center-to-center distance of the carburetor hold down bolts.

Thanks guys,
The center to center on the carb bolts is 2 15/16, which makes it for the 235.
Thanks again,
