I am having a problem finding a replacement nut for my steering wheel. I am not sure it is the stock nut but it appears to be a 9/16" fine thread jam nut. Anyways I have been looking online and cannot find anything close.

If it's like my '55, it should be a 1/2" x 20 fine thread. Should be able to find a suitable nut at the flaps or local hardware store. I would suggest at least a grade 5, grade 8 would be better. Doesn't have to be a jam nu, a regular nut will do fine.

Interesting. Most hardware stores stop at 1/2" on fine thread. but auto parts stores should go to the bigger sizes. Alternatevely, do you have a Fastenal in your area? They might have it.

I believe so but I am surrounded by lowes and home depots so that is where I have been so far. I havent gone to any mom pops stores yet. But I will get on that tomorrow. thanks

It's a relatively thin nut and was used for many years.

thank you for the link- also one more thing. I have been looking for a piece of trim that fits along the inside of the front window. It is at the very top of the dash and fits over the bottom of the windshield rubber and its one piece-thanks

Try the Swap Meet (place a want ad) for that 1954-truck interior windshield trim piece (defroster deflector). I have found two listed there over the past few years (finding the "stand-off" clips is much more difficult).
