Hi, i have a 39 i am putting a 250 in only chrome goodies i can find for it are valve covers and side plates if anyone has a link to a site that sells chrome oil pans timing covers ect.. plz post it thanks

I don't have a list of suppliers but think about getting your current parts chromed. Better quality and you have total control over the process of the project.

might think about cast alum instead of chrome plated steel. i don't know if i have ever seen a 250 chrome oil pan. a lot of the import stuff is pretty cheap made and won't look good for long. that's a good idea about chroming your orig parts you would prob have good luck with that. the cheap stuff starts rustin' out pretty quick. alum valve cover, timing cover and lifter gallery covers may tarnish a little, but will still look presentable for years to come. more ridgid for a better seal to if you get a goos one. hr

The valve cover and side covers are pretty hard to get a good seal on since they are chrome. Grind off the chrome from the sealing surface so the gasket doesn't slide around so easy. I went back to stock covers due to the sealing problem. You are much better off getting OEM parts plated, they are thick steel and have the lips that hold the gaskets in place. Joe

What abought getting the original covers powdercoated in the "powder chrome"...???... I like the look of it and I think it would be perfect for engine parts & easy to keep clean???? and would cost FAR LESS!

I powder coated my side covers black and plan to do the valve cover in the "chrome look" when I get it. It holds up real well and can be polished out to mirror finish it its thick enough. I am done with the China steel imports! Joe
