All,
It's been a while but I'm back and working on my doors. I've started to replace the rusted out door bottoms with new metal and have completely disassembled the door(s).

The question I have is. . . Has anyone found a replacement division bar for your vent window? You know, the pretty peice that goes over the felt divisoin bar that's ether black (what I have currently) or Chrom. This is the peice that you see when looking at the door and what the vent window lock locks/strikes on.

I hope this is as clear as mud and someone out there can help me locate this part.

I'm not sure what you want but IF its the "insert" that goes into your division bar the "insert" is available.

If its the piece that the "catch" for the wing vent handle catches on then I am not aware of any repops.

I just did my 52 which are probably like yours. I'm looking for the little "insert" or vertical division bar that the side window slides up in next to the vent window that has the little chrome "beads' on each side. The new ones I bought are solid black.

The handles, rubber pieces, rivets ect are all available from most vendors. Even complete vent assemblies but they are high dollar.

If this don't help can you be more specific? Its Wednesday and I don't do well on Wednesdays

the 'division bar' is the actual U shaped metal piece that's the "bones" of the vent window assembly - the vent frame rivets to it and it has a piece riveted to it at the bottom where it screws to the door .... I've gotten that bare piece in the past, from Golden State I believe ... it doesn't include the piece I think you want, which is part of the whole vent window assembly and is riveted on too

the felt window channel is the part that has the chrome bead edge to it, and a corrugated metal core, that fits in the slot of the division bar - all I've seen lately don't have the chrome bead edge

the small metal "striker" on the division bar that the vent latch locks onto isn't available anyplace I've seen, unless you buy the whole vent window assembly [mine restored]

Thanks for the quick responce. You kind of answered the question on the second part.

It is the "catch" that I'm looking for. I figured if they can make the whole assembly then why can't I get new "catches"?

I've searched most vendors and can't seem to locate them.

Anybody here have any other ideas besides going to Taiwan

And that's exactly what I was afraid of - not available.
So, I guess I'll have to restore the ones I have. I was really looking to go chrome. O'well.
I just looked and I really like the job you did on yours. Really nice work.

Heavy Chevy.... have you seen the post where Marty is helping someone get rid of a LOT of stuff out in California before it goes to the crusher. It appears they have piles and piles of parts.

I would email/PM him and see if he has a TF piece that you need. I would say its a good bet they do.

I'll look it up. But for now I'm plaining on restoring mine. I was checking in to see if someone else had a similar question and if they found them.

The PO drilled some holes through the drivers side post to (I guess) keep the weather strip in place. I'll need to plug weld these holes sand'em down and paint them. I'll probably go with a simi-glose black.

If I mess them up, I'll get back here asap and look up those parts.
