My question is, how/where were the tail lights if you didn't have a bed of any kind, my truck doesn't have a bed right now, and that will be the last thing I do, but i would like to drive it before then. I want to do it as original as possible, so does anyone have any pictures of how it came from the factory.

"For drive-away purposes prior to mounting a body, mount the rear lights to the rearmost cross member just outside the frame rails" .... there was a special bracket provided

So thanks for that red58. mummdogg, I added a link to my sig to my cardomain, I've got some more pictures but I just need to consolidate them all and post them up. I go to Clemson University, so I don't get to work on it much except over the summer and the few breaks we have. Right now the body is all off, cab was sandblasted and primed, body work pretty much done. I get out for summer in two weeks so I'll spend the majority of the summer working on it and hopefully get it road worthy before the end of summer.

Go by any medium or heavy duty dealers lot and have a look-see. I think that my truck would have had the more rectangular shaped lights. Does anyone know for sure? What is the correct tail light for my 48 GMC?
