but this is what i preach all the time. click here. blown 6 i know there many ideas about how to build a truck but the overhauling and other shows put crate motors and think the are be unique but why not put the orginal back with modifications? ron

That is just plain cool! I know what you mean, Ron. There is a lot that can be done with the inline 6's, why not use a perfectly good engine. I hate always seeing the same type of Chevy build on truck shows... "Let's stuff a 502 in there"... It's done to death. What about those of us that actually want to be able to drive it every day? Besides, the 292 in my '63 is a torque monster, there is no reason I would switch it out. It has all the snort I need.

That's totally awesome. I can see someone throwing a Vortech and a serpentine belt on an old six, but a roots style blower! That's the definition of a hot rod.

Boy, if you think you have problems trying to get a 216 to run right with a Rochester 'B', just imagine what it would be like with one of these setups. And where in the world does one come up with the equipment, i.e. drive adaptors, manifolds and such.
I was there and this was even very rare back in the day. But it certainly does make for a conversation piece if you can get it all togeather and running. The most impressive one that I saw was the, I'm guessing here, blue 36 burnout at the night drags. And I'm also so tired of looking at "350" instalations and I usually just walk right by most of them at the car shows. There must be a million of them out there, reminds me of a line in an old song "little boxes all the same"

on another you tube video it has a guy intentionally blowing a straight 6 in his truck and laughing about it. this should go with and they vote too. ron

Denny- I almost got my butt kicked at a carshow when I was young and dumb, walked up to a nice early Camaro with a blower sticking out the hood and commented "oh, it's only a small block. I'm not impressed." then walking away. My buddy that was with me had noticed the rather large owner of the vehicle looking at me. I had missed it completely.

I think that's pretty cool. Took a lot of work and thought.

Some of you preachers need to remember that many of us have a truck that started life as a V 8. I think there's room for all...

I agree on the manifolds. Do you think it's a custom manifold? That's an awful lot of blower for that engine, but it sure looks nice. Any ideas on what size 6 it is?

Well enough preachin’ , yep there is room for all of us here Vette, taint knockin’ your V8’s, just saying that from this vantage point 98% if the hot rods out there have had the same treatment, it just looks like a cookie cutter show when I walk down the lines. Not that there is any big thrill in looking at a whole row of stock 216’s or 235’s either. I’ve also just always thought of a Stovebolt as the pre-V8 era engines. Now I did see a big old model ‘A’ touring car with a Lincoln V12 at a show with aluminum heads and four 97’s that really stood out. What does draw my attention is seeing inliners whether they are flathead or overhead that have been nicely done. Just about everybody the hot rods a Stovebolt has a little different approach to it. And it’s really refreshing to see a really unique treatment to one, like stuffing a blower under the hood. The last few years the flathead V8’s been making quite a strong comeback and they’re starting to fall into the same pattern as the 350 did, “and they all look just the same”.
So enjoy your ’58, and please, no flaming here, I’m not preaching, just voicing my opinion, and that’s what the forum is for, isn’t it? Hallelujah Brother!

I find it amazing,a lot of work goes into these old inlines.
I don't walk by the v8s,I still like to look at the old trucks sheet metal and interior and the bed.

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't the point of restoring an old truck to use as many original parts as possible? Seems to me that the original engine makes up as much character of the old truck as the sheet metal, if not more.

Right on! Ive been to lots of car shows with my inline 46 along with other Inliners Int members and it really pees off the 350 croud when ALL the spectators have their heads under our hoods.
The sky is truly the limit with the inlines, check out www.inliners.org and look at the rides section.

My '70 GMC came stock with a 350 in it. I haven't really started to drive it yet, still in the rebuilding phase. I do plan to use it as my daily driver. I've never really thought much bout this, but if I have a v-8 should I consider geting an inline?
