I noticed that there is no visable welting between my rear fenders and bed. Can I add them by just loosening all the fender bolts or is more required ?

you could do, or any other way, but the factory didn't

I have just had my bed stripped and scene what happens when metal rubs up against each other without the felt, not so pretty!!! This seems like an easy proceedure that will save you a lot and add significant life to your truck.

a flat fender flange isn't going to be "rubbing" against the flat bedside if the bolts are tight wink

and the welting is vinyl, felt would hold water, resulting in rot - which may be what you're seeing rather than "rubbing"

for what its worth.... following a freinds advice I used the welting that VW's use on their fenders. Its sort of a "hard" rubber but yet very flexible and it looks really nice. Better than the regular stuff vendors supply. A new local bolter just picked me up 25 ft of it for $11.00. My body man had told me about it and had enough to do my rear fenders on my panel. It looks good and water will not damage it. I think it'll be looking good long after the vinyl type stuff has gone the way of the dodo bird.
Hope this helps.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
