Sorry if this should be in another section, i didnt know what to put it in.

Driving last night, went to my buddies house, i had about 3/4 of a tank, got out went in and partied for a while, got back in the truck and gas gauge went haywire. I cranked it and the dial went past the full marker about 1/4 inch to the right. Even when its full it only goes to F, never past it. It seems to me like its stuck or something, because usually when i go up a hill or hit a bump the dial swings back and forth like a clock, but now it doesnt move AT ALL, not even a little swing.

Any ideas, i know nothing about this area. Thanks in advance,

I would look at the sending unit in the gas tank and see if it's dirty. You can replace it also, I don't think their very expensive. Check the wiring too going to the sending unit, you might have a bad connection.

I agree with cal55. Check the sending unit, and connections. Make sure the sending unit and the gauge are the same ohm rating. I spent a lot of money learning this lesson. Guages and sending units do go bad, so you need to look at each one to see the guilty party.

Could either of you tell me what the sending unit looks like and where its located, i have the regular 18.5 gallon tank behind the seat

The sender is the only thing on top of the tank behind your seat. Unhook the wire and see if the gauge reacts. I doubt that it will. If the gauge does still peg when you turn the key on it's not the sender. I think you have a short in your harness under the kick plate some where, been there done that,

This, i'm guessing means i have a short in one of the wires behind the instrument panel? Oh i remember what i did yesterday. i plugged my phone charger into my cigarette lighter and charged my phone, could that have done anything?
