I was surfing the Bolt when a post popped up about a 1948 1 Ton Chevy about 30 minutes from me. Donnie(dbone) had planned on buying it, but his plans changed. He figured that since he didn't want it, he would share the seller's information with anyone else who was interested. I responded quickly, and set up a look-see that weekend. I was told that he found it in a pasture - sunken into the ground almost up to the axles. You can see the line of dirt on the tires(and rust on the rim) in this picture. The owner of the land owed him some money, so he accepted the truck as payment. I was immediately impressed with how complete the interior was. The 30++ year old tires even still hold air. The only thing missing was the generator. There was even an insurance policy in the truck from 1965.($28 for one year of liability insurance) He also said his F-250 4X4 couldn't pull it out of the ground, so he had to use his tractor.(Tough luck, Ford - I really like this trucks attitude grin ) I couldn't talk him down on price, but he did agree to deliver it to my place. This was quite a bonus, since I didn't have to rent a trailer or hire a tow truck.(ours isn't legal yet) My wife was indifferent about it at the beginning, but now she calls it our '48 Chevy. Here is a link to more pictures. Thank you stovebolt.com - we couldn't have gotten it without you. thumbs_up thumbs_up

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

I wish I could see more pics of it. There is just something spiritually exhilirating about seeing a truck like that. I love when they are rusted but still solid, that truck is in excellent condition. It isn't a rusted out bucket of holes like mine. In WV we have road salt, so in TX you have old trucks that aren't rusted out. I am JEALOUS.

Whether you think you can or can't, you're right.

Also--in 2004, I invented the spotting alert network in stovebolt after seeing so many trucks when driving around. So that means I am cool.

For more pics, click the (green colored)1948 One Ton link in my signature. Excellent? I wouldn't say so, but it's a good place to start.

Thanks for all the comments guys -
