Been looking to buy a windshield online tonite..I'll give the installation a try. Most prices seem to be in the $275 area. Found one place online that sells them for $185...but I need that confirmed, sounds low.

Anyone bought one? Got a good source or did you use local suppliers?

I got mine from the local glass shop, $250 installed. I had to provide my own window gasket. I opted for the one with the tinted upper protion.

How about telling us who the "cheap" vendor is? That way if anyone here has had experience with them you will know.

Today I BOUGHT a front windshield from the local Binswanger shop: $76.16 for item #DW407, front windshield for '58 Chevy pickup, probably Chinese, untinted, glass only, no gasket, no installation.

SEVENTY SIX BUCKS!

I just got a quote for $ 380...for my '58...install and rubber included.

I've done well by Rico in the past..bought a lot of stuff..But his site is pretty much inactive..I sent him an email for a price on 4 sheetmetal parts last week and he hasn't replied..I think the "old truck parts" game is probably dog eat dog and he's gotten tired of it..

I did find a windshield for $185 at ChevyChevy.com. I think the shipping cost was about the same.

Looks like they get about $200 to install RAK. Buying local and installing yourself looks like the cheapest way out...Just not sure if I can get the knack of that cord trick.

Just booked the install for Monday it's PPG glass tinted with the darker band on top. It's a mobile service total $ 380..not made in China !I'll report back after.

Yup..Made an appointment to have mine done. $384 plus tax..pretty close in price considering the distance betwwen us..
