I have the opportunity to purchase a corvette carb setup for 235 engine. It has the intake manifold, the 3 1 barrel carbuuretors and the linkage. I would be putting it on my '54 3600.

What do you guys think? Is it a good setup and is it easy to install? Are modifications needed or does it bolt right up to a stock 235?

Thanks fo your input/help!

Steve

i think that someone made a post about this earlier, if you look through the back logs of this section and the general discussion one. it seems that i remember that it was a workable setup, but i am not the right one to ask....happy hunting.

It will bolt right up to the engine.
Do some checking to see if anything on the firewall will hit the back carburetor. This is where most of the problems come from when putting the corvette intake on other cars or trucks. I know they won't fit a 55 chevy. because the back carburetor hits the master cyl.

I just bought and then sold one. I was planning on using it for my 62 C-10. I didn't have the carbs or the linkage. The price of those and the complexity of the linkage influenced my decision not to use them. The rear carb was VERY close to the firewall and I would have had to reroute the clutch line from the MC at the very least. Also unable to use the corvette aircleaner in the rear. Your application will be totally different but I'm hoping you can make it work. I'd love to see that on one of these trucks for something different.

Thanks for the input! I could not find a related thread. I will keep looking though.

It sounds like I need to be careful as far as clearance around firewall for both the back card and aircleaner. Does anyone have measurements/pics/part numbers of the corvette air cleaners?

Thanks again!!!

Here you go. I found a link with an excellent picture of the 235 engine with the 3 side draft carbs. I hope this helps you. Scroll down and click on the engine picture to get a larger view.
