Check the rear differential. I'm changing mine to 353 gears to up the MPG.
As far as the install, you will have to wait for someone more qualified to answer that. Someone will come along here soon.

My 53 was a 3/4 ton truck. Engine mounts are available from Tom Langdon: http://www.stoveboltengineco.com/acartpro/category.asp?catcode=39I am using a IFS crossmember from a 78 Chevy truck and a 700R4 auto transmission. I reused the original trans crossmember, but had to move it back. Also had to trim the firewall, but if you are willing to run an electric fan you might not have to cut it. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 348 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 348 | i put on in my 49 burb i used a 54 bellhousing x member a 55 v8 bellhousing and ordered the side mounts, i did not cut the firewall the head is right against it i have a gmc frame and i am running a stock fan blade | | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 12 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 12 | Thanks guys for all the help.
