They seem way too flimsy for 40 ft.lbs. Is there a published value? If so the shop manual says to turn them down until they touch then 1/2 turn more.

Well it is a bit of a mystery why they were used in the first place. I did use the "pal nuts" on my 216 though. You basically snug them and then turn a bit more.
