It looks like the torque tube makes it hard to pull things apart. We are changing an engine and rear-end with a parts truck, which should be installed first? . | | |

Remove the fasteners that hold the bell, slip it back on the torque tube and take the U-joint apart. Then either drop the torque tube or tie it up high enough for the transmission to be pulled. | | |

I pulled the crossmember just under the u-jount and dropped the torque tube down. This left lots of room to pull the transmission.

Lift until the bell touches the floorpan and it will stay out of your way. I could'nt remove my tranny crossmember as it's riveted in. I thought they all were.

It was hanging up on the u-joint in the TT. I decided to take out the crossmember which made it really much easier. I would rather drop the trans down than pull it up thru that opening in the floor. | | |
