I checked both Hagerty and Grundy and the truck must be keep inside. Does anyone know who I can get insurance from? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 131 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 131 | What level of coverage are you looking for?
A lot of "antique" insurers need 80% restoration etc.. J C Taylor for example requires the bolt to be in very good condition and NOT a primary driver. 1952 Chevy 3804My 1952 in the Gallery The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,602 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,602 | | | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 | if you find someone who will insure it outside, please let me know, because i have not been able to find anyone who will, and i have been searching for a year now. for an agreed value, they all want it parked inside a garage. good luck in your search

They recommended Allstate. I went to Allstate, where I have my house insurance, and they required me to get a written appraisal from a certified classic vehicle appraiser. They have insured it now for over 3 years, and at no time was it mentioned that it had to be kept indoors. I could be wrong but I'm thinking he said it was Grundy. He had to call and speak with a real person to find that out. The site said it had to be in a garage.

Then I switched.. What is good about antique insurance companies is their price. Liability only as a driver. I doubt they would put comprehensive/collision on it though. Snake Farm does my sons '53 with an agreed value and no restrictions.

My only restriction with the Chevelle is that I don't ordinarily drive it to work, don't park at a mall unattended or let under 25 year old drivers use it. I choose to park inside, not because I am required to. I have to get it appraised every 5 years to determine the value. My premium is $197 per year. We have lots of choice for insurance coverage. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 | i have geico on all 3 of my trucks, but the 57 being the only classic. only enough to be legal. if i wreck, stolen, or fire, i lose all my money. believe me, i have tried at least 10 different companies, and could not find one that would insure for agreed value without a garage, at least here in florida. i even told them to charge me 1200 bucks, or more, like the full coverage i have on my 2003 s-10, but they said no. if anyone in florida has an agreed value policy on their classic, without havign to have a garage, please let me know.

"Yes, our underwriting regulations state the vehicle must be kept in a fully enclosed locked garage." so, the search continues........ leonard | | | | | Joined: Oct 2000 Posts: 244 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2000 Posts: 244 | I'm looking for basic coverage. When the truck is totally finished I will drive it seldom, not a daily driver. I'll keep checking out insurance companies as I'm sure not everyone that has insurance parks it inside all the time. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 | buckaroo01, please, if you do find a company not requiring a garage, let me know. thanks.
