It seems that was not a pickup option but some folks were putting the glovebox door on the pickup from a 36 car.
Perhaps this could be somewhat the situation in you case. Just a thought. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 206 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 206 | I didn't think of that. Its very plain with only that clock and a heater as options. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | A clock was neither a factory option or GM accessory on 49-50 Chevrolet truck.
It would not have been too difficult to adapt a 53/54 car clock or 54/55 truck clock to fit on an earlier glove box door (a bezel could have easily been found, if needed).

Note I was referring to a recent post by someone asking about a clock in the glovebox door of a 37 pickup. Someone said it wasn't an option in 37 but some guys put a door off a 36 into the 37 pickup...or maybe just the clock into a 37 door?
Set us straight Joe, did a 37 pickup have a clock option?? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 | No, it was not an option on the 37-38 pickup, but the practice of using the optional glove box door from a 36 Master car has been used by every one from me to whoever since they shared, by appearance, the same instrument panel. For that matter, the 36 truck also had the same panel as did the 39 truck, but the 39 truck had different faces on the instruments. It fits nicely and looks great. It adds balance to the entire instrument panel. Why not? As a side note, the truck had a speedometer face which showed up to 80 MPH. The 36 Master had a speedometer face which showed up to 100 MPH. Another swap that many have made. And one more thing, the car speedometer had the word "SAFETY" on the face at the top of the speedometer. Looks cool.
