So, I've got all this 1/4" line laying around, and fittings and such. If I use the 1/4" from the pump to the carbs, is the engine going to starve, I can't see the 216 using more fuel than this. I realise though, the stock line is 5/16. But I like shiny stuff, and well, that's about it. Just general maintenance, and putting a better filter on.

Thanks

My uneducated guesstimate is that it would be fine. The fuel bowl holds lot of juice and the fuel pump transfers lots of juice and the poor old tiny carburetor doesn't use much juice, even at WOT.

CARBS? I believe your line should be larger for multiple carbs. Stock should work, but I definetely wouldn't undersize it.

YIKES...it does say 'carbs'. eek While I still think 1/4" might work, I'm going to side with the Swingdaddy and say don't go smaller than stock size.

It's my understanding that two carburetors does not equate to twice as much fuel, but actually almost the same amount, but better distributed on the intake.

This is why it's important to reduce the venturi size on the dual install carburetors. They are now flowing at half the CFM each (of the engine), which means half the fuel each...does this sound correct!

Yeah, I'm a little vague on all this stuff, though I'm following california Bills instructions, how can I go wrong? Hahaha.

My dad used to run a 427 with a 6-71 blower and a pair of 4 barrels, and if he remembers correctly, 1/4" line. He may have used 5/16", but never any bigger on any of his rides. I really doubt youd have any problems with 1/4" on a 216.

Think about the size of the hole at the tip of the needle valve. All of the gasoline has to pass through it.

Not trying to steal this thread, but i have a similar question. Will 1/4" line starve my 454 w/4bbl carb? I want to use an old elec. fuel pump and thats what size the fittings are. Don't really want to use adapters.

I just used a steel 5/16 off the rack brake line to replace the 1/4 in copper line on my 216. It appears to be a great improvement. I also put in an inline filter using rubber fuel ine connectors that I hope will deal with the vibration as well.
