The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Making a Stovebolt Bed Somethin Different

Ok here it is,
Im up for any Comments an Bashin!...LOL
I decided after thinkin long an hard on some things and decided to go this way.
Bed Wood:
I have a 1/4 steel plate welded in my bed floor for weight over the rear axle and NEED IT, so I basically built a DECK like attached to your house for the 52, We bolted down stringers of Hard maple across the steel plate, drilled drainage holes through the plate where needed, and then milled elongated holes in each of the Hickory bed boards spaced at 1/8" (for expansion & contraction) where the brass screws went down into the stringers...SORRY didnt get pics of that, My Bad, then trimmed it out with thin strips of Hickory and S.S. screws wich should let it float enough.

Fuel Tank:
Thought long and hard on a under bed tank, an Bren came up with this one, her ? was what have you ever put in the toolbox other than the Jack ?...so we tossed it round an came up with this ...we sacrificed 75% of the tool box for the fuel tank.
Now there is a 15 gallon aluminum fuel cell in there that with some fabricating fits nicely,

Can't see why its not a good idea. The wood looks good but until I looked at the pics I was imagining little strips of wood down the length of the board instead of across. I bet it really looks sharp in person and I do like the idea of hiding the fuel tank in the tool box. Makes sense to me!
