It has a divorced transfer case, so I can shorten or lengthen the drive shaft. But I would prefer to find one that is similar in length as the original tranny. Any suggestions? Thanks. Michael

I don't know how well a 'Vette tranny will work in a truck, but it will probably mount to the bell housing...
You might want to find one out of a C3 or a [very] early C4, if you give it a try. Anything newer will have too much electrical BS to mess with.

Does your 55 have 4wd?
If it does, the 'vette option probably won't do it.

We have the new tremec 6 speed in a 57 but i would not do it again. The tremec 5 speed is a better box for the street. 6 speed is more road race set up. Save your pennies they are not cheap, but you can have the shifter about anywere you want.

Just a suggestion.
I did say that I didn't know if it would work.
