How hot can sheet metal get before you have to worry about warpage?
I am using a small propane torch and a scraper to remove the factory undercoating on the inside of my bed sides.
It works really well and I am making sure the metal doesn`t get too hot to touch on the front side.
Does anyone see any problems with this?
I have only done a small section and wanted to ask opinions before I go any further.

I've not removed undercoating so I can't speak about the ease of removal but I have seen what too much heat can do to a panel. A propane torch is quite hot & can get too much heat into a panel quickly. It sounds like you're being careful. Just don't get in a hurry. How do you feel about trying a heat gun or high output hair dryer instead?

Well, I`m mainly just kind of going over the surface to soften it. Actually once the blade gets under it the stuff starts coming off pretty easily.
Like I said, I also am constantly feeling the other side with my bare hand to make sure it`s not getting too hot.

Don't worry about it.

Just think how hot a vehicle gets sitting in the direct sun in the desert... probably hot enough to burn your hand and make that undercoating drip off.
