I am about to start the body work on my doors for my C-30 with a flatbed, stake rack set-up. I have never driven this truck, and am not sure how big my mirrors should be. Are the stock mirrors that bolt to the door with a single stalk big enough? The truck doesn't have any mirrors right now, only the three threaded holes towards the top of the door below the window. The reason I sort of need to know now is that it will make a difference on what holes to weld up, and what to keep. Any suggestions on mirrors that you guys are using, and where you got them?? Thanks!

I have Full Size West Coast Mirrors on all of my 1-Ton trucks. I believe they all came factory original that way. You could go smaller if you are going more for looks. It seems like the newer 1-Tons have smaller mirrors. Which ever way you go, I would definitely use a Convex "Spot" mirror on the passenger side along with it, espeically if you will be hauling any loads with it. I use the bolt on kind. I even have a Convex on my pick-up.

I think for something you are going to haul with the west coast style are the best. I got mine through the local auto parts store. All stainless and I did pay alot for them. They are on my yellow 56 6500 in the gallery.

There are smaller Jr. West Coast mirrors that were used in the 66' time frame also. Personally I like the BEL (below eye line) mirrors that are like more modern pickups. Extensions can be added to the arm for towing. They aren't as heavy and don't protrude like larger mirrors.

I've found full size West Coast mirrors to be too heavy for Chevy door skins and eventually they pull out and/or vibrate.

Agreed!
The full size west coast mirrors are to big.
Jr. west coast is the way to go. and were a option. The small below eye mirrors were standard.
