I have a good running Model B Rochester on my 230. I just scored a nice manual choke Carter YF from a Ford 240. Is it worth the swap? I know Carbking hated the Rochester Bs, I have had this one apart several times to get it "right", but it runs really well now & gets about 16 mpg,, but I drive it like an old(er?) man. Brian

I,d leave it alone if it,s working good regardless of my signature. That is respectable gas mileage. I,ve run the model B,s for many years & have had good luck with them. If that Ford carb fit the manifold you would still have to modify the linkage & fuel lines. Than find an air cleaner to fit.

I always tell everyone one else "don't fix it if it ain't broke",, I need someone to tell me that every now & then. The linkage is the same, but I would have to bend up a new fuel line. I have checked my odometer w/GPS & it is right on, I can live w/the mileage just fine,,even @ 2.89 its better than driving that s10 I had,,Brian

The Rochester B will function until it warps (which it will).

There are two schools of thought here:

(1) If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
(2) If it ain't broke, fix it until it breaks.

And I still detest the Rochester B.

The fuel mixure will probably be off either too rich or too lean the non-production set up. It takes a lot of dyno work to get the calibration correct under all driving conditions. Nothing like a little high speed detonation to put holes in your pistons from to lean a mixture.
