According to my manuals - my 64 GMC 305e V6 with sm420 tranny should use an 11" clutch disk. Most of the online parts people (Rock Auto, etc.) suggest a clutch kit which includes a 12" disk. Will this work? Does anyone have an experience with this either good or bad? Advice appreciated.

Its best to pull the old one out & measure it. The chev truck flywheel will take either 11 or 12 in. clutches. Its been about 40 years since ive been in a V6 Jimmy but if I remember right the clutch was recessed in the flywheel. It will have to have the exact replacement. If I had a choice between the 11 &12 I would use the 11 in. unless I was doing some heavy hauling or had a driver that was hard on clutches.

Even your local Napa can send them off, just make sure to get a qoute first. I had the pressure plate rebuilt and the clutch relined for about $125 total. That was with my 11" Gmc clutch and 9 bolt pressure plate in my COE.
