Does anyone know if they still make bias-ply tires? I have to replace my 650-16 and the only similar size radial tires that I can find are 10 ply. I liked my bias-type and they were only 6 ply.

They still make 'em... They're just not very common anymore.

There is also Wallace Wade Specialty Tire here in Dallas Texas. I bet he has them. I got a set of Military Non Directional tread tires for my 47 CJ2a.

oldblue49,

Did you look at old posts about radial tires, because I think a lot of brands that have 6 ply LT radials have been reported by various people. I got 6 ply LT radials from Cooper tires that fit on the original rim just fine (@ about $100 installed, plus tube).

As I recall from reading magazine ads, Coker/Goodrich/Goodyear have bias tires (Coker is a little expensive).

What lines/brands of tires are available near you?

Tim - thanks for the tip on Cooper tires. My bias ply are Cooper and I liked them. Not much available in my size here unless it is special ordered and tires from the states (e.g. Coker) would cost me a fortune. There are the brand names and a bunch of Asian brands.

They're still available here in the MB/ND area. Try a shop that deals with farmers or truckers.

Have you checked with a local truck or tractor tire dealer? They should be able to get what you want. I bought 8 ply for mine, dealer had them in stock in a 7.00X15. Made in Mexico, where a lot of people drive these old trucks because that's all they can afford.
