I bet ya need to replace the speedo.

But i do know that it did chirp and squeak as the needle moved. Also, what trany speedo gear should i change to to be somewhat acurate with the original speedo?
| | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,094 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,094 | Jack, you need to determine the rear end gear ratio, then change the drive gear in the tailshaft( were you connect the speedometer cable) a gm dealer or a speedometer shop can help with the right gear. It's easy to change, but it sounds like something else is wrong.

I thought it might have been the cable or the new transmission I put in with overdrive. What I found was the mechanism/speedo in the dash was gummed up. I took the instrumentation cluster out of the dash, took it a part and cleaned/oiled it. When it was back together and in the truck it all worked. Now my speedo works fine.
Are you sure this is not your problem?
