I'm trying to decide the same thing on my Dump truck project(s)

I've got a 66 GM C50 Dump with a 5 yard bed, new tires and brakes, runs and drives but needs wiring etc.. and it leaks like the Exxon Valdez! The cab on this one is in really bad shape.

Then I've got a 66 GMC 4000 Dump, with a 3-4 yard asphalt dump bed, doesn't run, but - the cab is lightyears better than the GM

On my projects I will probably decide based on the amount, if any, of structural rust ~ ie. cab re-inforcement bracing and the cab mounting points.

If the structural areas of the cab are good - I believe most of the sheet metal and patches can be purchased new-reproduction

IF the stuctural areas are bad then I'm probably going to sell them off rather than do a cab swap as by myself, that's a nearly impossible task to do without a couple of gantry's or a forklift.

If the biggest issue is the floor then it isn't such as huge task. I've seen and done some really badly rusted car floors and they went OK. Easier than switching the cab IMO. Each case is different obviously.

I will tell you how we handle things here in the shop. If we took in a truck like this. First we would go threw it and write down the problem areas Like the right door for example. you say the floor but, It is hard to tell as there is no pictures. etc, etc.

Then What we would do is look around for the replacement parts. If the Floor is bad. Let see if we can locate a good cab to work with.

If you find one. what is the price?

Here is the big question............ Are we doing a frame off? If so, then everything in the cab will come out anyway. so, If I find a cab that would cost less than what I will pay a guy to repair. well, It would make sense to replace the cab.

as for the door. You can fix that one or get another one.

So, If the replacement parts are cheeper than the cost to repair and you can locate the parts. Save yourself the money and take the best option.

My opinion well... I don't really count but, If it was mine. I like to go threw the truck and replace or rebuild everything. Then you start with a like new truck.

When you just get a truck to run things will alway be falling apart till everyting is replaced anyway. The only ex. would be the engine and trans. They would just be inspected.

I hope this helps
