For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 1,026 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 1,026 | Well I took my driveshaft to the shop today to be shortened. It was almost dark when I got back home but the urge to put it in was overwhelming so I hastily installed it and under the cover of darkness, thank God for street lights, I drove it down the street!! (note to self.. will drive better when the transmission is full of fluid) I would have gone farther but I didn't have the headlights hooked up. Man what a blast! Finally after over two years it moved (and stops) under its own power!! The were plenty of things that I noticed that have to be done, mainly figure out why it wants to die when in gear, but boy do I feel great. Can't wait till morning to start tweeking!

The maiden voyage is always and adventure even if taken a bit too early. Hopefully your engine dying while in gear isn't the result of those gears not being pre-lubed prior to use.
Tried to watch the video but my java scrip blocker doesn't seem to like it. Great to see that Webshots is now allowing video nevertheless--just goes to show you how in touch I am lately!
Good luck and enjoy the truck,

I'll post a video of my next drive after I make some repairs & adjustments.

I've had that experience once before & I can relate to how great it feels to get in, hit the key & take the first drive down the street! You've come a long way...Congrats!! | | |
