Does a 56 Chevy 3200 use a 2-piece driveshaft with a center bearing or just a straight 1-piece? No driveshaft in our new toy. Also what manual transmission (prefer 4-speed) should we look for that will fit well with the stock driveline?
Thanks,
Gene & Jr

the TF long box is just a longer single shaft [pre-'66 coarse tooth in the yoke] - the 3/4T and up have the 2 piece, and therefore has an extra cross member w/ the center mount for the shaft - the 4 speed that will fit right in is the original SM420, same for many years, but unless you're really workin the truck at slow speeds, the 3 spd is just as good - of course if you have no trans in it maybe it also doesn't have the column shift on it

I have a 55 II & like Ktech says it,s a one piece. Now would be a good time to put a T-5 five speed with o,drive in it & have a drive shaft made up for it. The tech tips has a good coverage on this & there have been many posts. You can do a search & get plenty of info. smile

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
