There are so many tips on rebuilding these trucks, I wouldn't know where to start. I began with a book on how to restore an old Chevy truck. Then I ended up here and went bit by bit, asking questions. Some of the people here are amazing and have a wealth of knowledge. Just be sure to go to the right forum and to let people know exactly what truck you have. BTW, did you realize you were yelling? It appears we have a few things in common.
Our oldest son and his family live in Sturgis,Mi and we live 1 1/2 hours east of there. I envy your father /son project. Although we have 3 sons, 2 live out of state and the other too far away and too busy with family to join me.
I also have a Chevy Panel, a '48. I am currently working on another project, and it will be awhile before I start on the panel. So, like you, I am open to ideas.

Remember, the only dumb question is the one that you didnt ask. With about 19000 members with an average of 10 years wrenching for each person, this has to be one of the most knowledgeable sites for old GM iron and restoration.
