Has anyone ever shipped a large part like a longbox bedside panel, or a tailgate?? How did you go about packaging it, and keeping it from getting damaged? Also, who did you use, and were they satisfactory? The biggest problem is, I have no way to get these items from my house, to a dock, so they would have to pick them up at my residence.....not sure anyone will do that? Any suggestions?

On the tail gate you can ship via Greyhound, Thats how I got mine, they will also handle Doors and inner fenders sheaper than most other UPS or other shippers. JMTC

on a tailgate I put to flat pieces of cardboard...one on each side, put some tape around it, and since I had some "saran wrap" I wrap it around it to. My object was to keep the package as SMALL as possible.....I ship Fed-X and they charge for VOLUME as well as weight so keep it as small as possible. You could do the same for bedsides. If the metal needs work perhaps no wrapping is needed at all unless the carrier requires something...

Jake, Greyhound would NOT ship my doors from Utah and the one here in Spartanburg won't ship much stuff like that. I know others have done it with great sucess and I believe it depends on teh terminal where you ship it from!!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

I just found out about uship.com yesterday. You tell them what you have to ship, and they get people to bid on the job. I'm getting a 55 chevy truck seat , 330 miles from me. Picked up and delivered to my house for 100.00. I didn't think that was too bad a deal.
