Hi,

Can some kind Stovebolter tell me if a '58 Chev Pick windshield will fit a '61 Suburban?

The "burb in the bush" is still lying on a remote farm and yesterday, South african emailed meto say he had a curved shaped 58 Chev sedan windshield. Another person said he had a '58 Chev Pick Up windshield. Don't want to buy the wrong one! Many thanks.

The Celt (see 3 feature story(s)+ pic of the burb - "Africa Calling/ Stovebolted Out of Africa")

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Hey Piers, welcome to the Stovebolt! One of my son's best friends just moved from the US to South Africa after living here about ten years. I think he is living in Durban.

I don't know with certainty the answer to your question. There is a big difference between the '58 cab and the '61 cab. Actually '58 and '59 are basically the same, and '60 through '63 are basically the same. The question is did that change in '60 affect the windshield.

I did take a few moments and look up the windshield for each with my favorite old truck vendor, LMC Truck. I was surprised to find the same part number for both the '58 and the '61.

58 -- 38-9407-T WINDSHIELD GLASS-SHADED
61 -- 38-9407-T WINDSHIELD GLASS-SHADED

I'd feel better if someone else came along and confirmed that, but it appears they are the same.

And Merry Christmas to you too!

time for me to check my 60' on that with my tape measure. if they were the same that would mean 55'-63' interchange?

guys here is the answer: NO! this is straight from the glass guy, 55'-59' pn.DW407 20x70/60'-63' pn.DW587 20x82 must be a typo in the LMC catalog.

Thanks for clarifying that! I was a little nervous about those parts numbers because it just didn't feel right to me...
