I have a 1951 GMC pickup with chevy 235 engine. Oil drips from where the driveline mates to the transmission. I have never worked on a GMC so am not sure if a seal/gasket can be put in without removing the rear-end since it has a closed driveline. Is there information somewhere on this site to help me figure out how to fix this problem? Silver
Can be done in 30 Minutes without removing the whole stuff. All you need is a new gasket and some silicone. Unscrew the ring that hold the Bell and push it toward the rear end. Remove bolts from the u-joint and the torque tube dropps down. Degrease everything bevore U use the silicone. Good time to do the cork seal of the bell to.
Frank, thank you. You have eased my mind a whole bunch. The only closed driveline vehicle I have worked was my 1941 Ford pickup and to drop the driveline you had to move back the rear-end, a lot more work than this is gonna be. Thanks again, Silver
