The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop opinions wanted on exhaust routing

I just installed my split manifold from Kansas Kustoms. It's goin to the exhaust shop tommorow so I want opinions on pipe size and where the tips should come out the back. Will it be too loud with windows down if they exit behind the rear tire? Should they go staight out the back? I think I'm going with a muffler that is like a hybrid of a muffler and a glass pack called a tuff turbo. Anybody heard of it. It's got a great sound at idle without all the rappity wrap of a glass pack at RPM. You should hear it now. The neighbors are prolly POed at me tonight. Thanks in advance for the advice

we all have different taste, I like my dual smittys straight out the back with some chrome tips,,I love the sound of it,and have had good comments from other bolters that have heard it,,cletis, Dale 937 and others,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hey I have an idea, how about dual stacks behind the cab,,, their is a local guy that has a 54 GMC and that is what he has, sort of like a big rig,,many will have different opinions but I like mine the old fashion way, straight out the back,,,,,,,,,good luck,,,,Fred

i prefer mine out the side (one on each) between the cab and the rear wheel. but..then again..it might be a lil loud.

That reminds me of the "Little Red Wagon" dodge pickup of the 80's. It had stacks on it if I recall correctly. Umm, no thanks

I love mine straight out the back also but have to have them turned down at the bumper because of the Teardrop Trailer that I pull with it.

It is quieter in the cab when they run sraight out the back.

I run them straight out the back with pencil tips.
