Sorry if I am asking this in the wrong spot. I am new here and honestly having a hard time finding my way around. I am trying to get the long steering shaft out of the gearbox so I can lift the cab off. I got the wheel off. And the tube that surrounds the shaft. removed the clamp bolt on the box. Now I am stuck. Any suggestions?

I'm going to guess on this as a '35 is way out of my league. All the later trucks had a steering shaft that was 'one piece' with the worm gear...it was a single, factory piece.

To get the shaft out, you have to almost completely disassemble the steering box. It would be easier to just remove the box intact from the frame. Does this make sense.

I have linked a picture of a '38 steering box. The picture says "car" but the page heading says "truck". Maybe it will give some some ideas. Good luck.

Stuart thanks I think that is the case. I never would have thought 1 piece. I am headed out to pull the whole box off now. Thanks agaain.

According to my 1935 manual, you have to take the brake pedal off to remove the steering column.
