I just read a post about narrowed rears and I didn't want to hijack the thread so I am starting a new one.

I am putting a K5 Blazer frame under a 57 Panel.

The track width on the Blazer front end is about 5-1/2 inches wider than the panel would have been originally. I thought about different backset on the rims, but upon closer inspection it doesn't appear to be a viable option. There is only about 1/8" clearance between the stock rims and the tie rod end. Is there another option that I haven't thought of that would be easier than having the axles and tubes shortened? How much extra space between the outside of the tire and the fender was there originally on a Task Force? Maybe 2-1/4" on each side would be OK?

bad plan - should find something w/ the right width to start - wheels stickin out looks plain goofy IMO - the TF has 3" from the sidewall of the tire to the outside face of the fender above it - when viewed from straight out front the tire is nearly in line w/ the center line of the lights - if you go w/ the added width you'll be slingin rocks and road crud up the side of the truck

check the width on a jeep wagoneer the ones wit 6 lug wheels have the same axles as chevy truck/blazer.
