Is there any source or reference that crosses parts and numbers for brake (and other) parts from lighter duty vehicles to heavier duty. For example: is the master cylinder for a 3/4 ton 59 truck the same as for a 2 ton? Most of the cab fittings are the same so are there other parts that are the same? Obviously many are not but it would be nice to know which ones are when ordering parts.

A better question may be, what the truck in question is and what else would fit it? Between the different years and sizes is probably to broad of a question.

The only real reference I use is the different Master Parts books for various years, and even some of them had amendments or changes.

The truck is a 1959 Viking 60 16,000# gvw with 261, 2 sp rear.

Just in general, not exact or complete:
Engine parts will mostly be the same.
Axle parts may be the same for a couple of largeer trucks, say 3/4 and 1 ton, and 1.5 and 2 ton, but not all of them, or always.
Brake parts will most always be different between sizes of trucks, sometimes different brake options for the same size truck.
Some driveshaft parts will be the same for a number of the larger trucks.

That'll get you thinking, but as you can see you need to do the research before ordering parts.
You really need a parts manual for the exact answers, but spend some time with your truck and examininmg others and you'll start to get the hang of what's the same and what's differnet.

Short answer, no. The 1/2 through 1 ton uses a 1 1/8" master cylinder bore, the 1 1/2 tonand 2 ton use a 1 1/4" bore, exept for 2 ton w/HydroVac, which uses a 1 1/2" bore, which is the same as 2 1/2 ton and larger.
