was visiting my family in nebraska a few months ago and as my brother and i were heading back to the airport, we stopped by a friends house for a quick visit. while we were there i noticed an old chevy truck (with a grain bed) parked out by the windbreak. i mentioned it to my brother and before we left we made a loop out to take a look at it.
it was a mid 50's, relatively straight, and unmolested. just an old reliable grain truck parked after years of use.
last week i was talking with my brother and he mentioned that his friend was having a farm auction. i jokingly asked if the old truck would be on the sale and if it was, if it went for less than $500.00 he should buy it,if for no other reason than to scavenge parts off of it for our dad's 55 pickup.
he called me today with some news. the truck was not on the sale but he had a conversation with his friend and he told him if he would tow it away, it would be the the happiest day of his wife's life!
a free truck. does it get better than that? my brother is going to take some pictures and send them off to me (he and the truck are in nebraska and i live in arizona) so as soon as i get pics, i will post them.
guess i will add it to the collection that currently includes my dad's 55 second series

oh, yeah! add one more truck to the mix...my sister has a 51 international she got for $50.00 to use as a photography backdrop that she doesn't want anymore and gave to me.
the best part is that i'm still driving my grandfather's 50 on a daily basis!
