For all you guys and gals out there that have looked for an old school mud / snow tire with the look of a bias but in a radial, I found them. They are the Wild Spirit Radial TXR II! Google these tires (sorry I'm a techtard and couldn't post a link) and you'll see what I'm talking about. They get great reviews on snow ice and mud. You can even get them studded like the old bias tires. I'm going with the 255 85R 16s on my '57 4x4 burb. The size mentioned above is the thinner version (about 10") tire with an overall diameter of 33" (just a little taller than a 285), and will easily fit on my stock steel wheel to give you that overall old school truck look. I was looking at a tire store yesturday at the 285s but they just looked to wide. As I was leaving bummed out I caught them out of the corner of my eye and about wet myself. They were thin tall and aggressive looking all that I was out for. When I get them on the "beast" and figure out how to post pics or a link ( help me please) I 'll show you you what I'm so excited about. Sorry for carrying on,

i am with you bongo i am ron the computer greek. but here is the site. wild spirit i was taught a short cut on here. all you do is highlite the address and hit control c, the post it by hitting control v on this site. i am sure someone will come on her and clarefy this. ron

Those tires look very similar to ones I have ran for years on my personal vehicles and the ones the company I worked for ran. However, the shop we used to buy them from went out of business and none of the rest of the shops could find them. They were branded as "Power King" and were made by Dean Tire. The company ran many different brands on the fleet, but the best traction and the longest mileage were the Power Kings. Have been unable to locate any since 2001.

We need new snow tires this year, so may have to look for a set. Thanks for the post Bongo.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, those are Bias-ply tires. They used to make those in a radial version, but discontinued them. I found a shop that carries the ones that Bongo referred to and will be getting a set on Saturday. I run studded tires for the few times we need them each year. They allow me to have traction to stop and go just about anywhere I wish to go here in Northwest Arkansas.

Something to keep in mind if you plan to run studded tires, in most states, they are illegal. exeptions would be rural mail carriers or vehicles not used on paved roads. Check with your DMV before running them.

I know Mastercraft has an MT tire with a similar look. It's also pinned for studs. Dean has a Wildcat and Durango line they are really close to what you want. They'll probably be comparable in price to the Multi Mile. They're made by Cooper, so they're a pretty good tire.

I like my 215/85/16 LT Cooper Discovery's. They are "old skool" enough for me and look like a bias ply until you get up close.
