For those of you that didn't know, i've been working on a ring job on my 250 L6. It's been a long job since it's only been me (I'm 16) and my buddy whos 18 doing this, with supervision from a retired mechanic. Since before this i had never seen more than my rocker arms before, i'd say it's been quite a learning experience. Well, we're down to the end, about 4 hours ago we got the last piston up in the jug, torqued my new ARP connecting rod bolts to 40 ft/lbs., and threw the oil pump and pan back on, new gaskets of course. My head is currently at some machine shop i think, getting my valves dipped and relapped...for only $100!! Every replacement part for my engine has been very cheap as well... for reasons i don't know. And at some point tomorrow or Thursday we should have the head back on, and we'll see if she turns over. Hopefully i didn't "bend" the journal bearings when i put the ARP bolts in using a vice, but when i throw a rod i'll know i messed up, and someone will have a new boat anchor! Personally, I know we've done everything right, we've triple checked everything, and torqued things down to spec. My only concern is that all 6 connecting rods jiggle a little bit on the journal. The mechanic supervising us said when they get lubed up and get seated in after driving a while, they'll be fine...and if not... I'll throw a rod. Any last minute advice would be great, but other than that, wish me luck, as this could either end up really good or godawfully devastating!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
