For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 217 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 217 | I have Langdon's dual Carter Weber's on my '54 235 and I'm still having a little trouble with the electric chokes. I'm trying to determine if my chokes are working as advertised. I'm still having trouble with the engine dying about 30 seconds after sitting off for about 10 minutes. It seems as though it's starving for fuel. I have to pump the accelerator many times and let it cool a few minutes before it will start again. It's really got me confused.
Is the following logic correct?
I connected both chokes to a lead to my ignition. The chokes are normally "closed" and when the key is turned on, this heats a coil that opens the chokes as it heats?
I sure would like to have more control over the choke. Is there a way to convert to manual? Is there anything else that would cause this?
I have ruled out vapor lock as an issue.
The engine runs flawlessly otherwise.

Try pushing the gas pedal to the floor and releasing it. That will reset the choke flapper. Then, turn the key.
I have the same set-up on a 261 and the electric chokes have worked perfectly (hot or cold). | | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,557 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,557 | I also have the same set up on my 261. My chokes were acting crazy, basically they weren't working.I fused mine at the ignition switch. While testing and setting up,I blew the fuse, didn't realize it.I put a new 10 amp fuse in and she has been purring ever since.
Have you tried calling Tom Langdon and let him trouble shoot the problem ? 1951 3100 Chevrolet1951 Chevrolet Suburban CarryallImage"A house is built with boards and beams.
