I have a 1963 c-10 with the in-line 6cylinder it sat for 8 years before I got it and it cranks but doesn't start.. I can spray starter fluid down the carb and it will run for a little bit..I put gas in it..were should I start?

Fuel pump. It may take a while to get the fuel from the tank to the carb. Run it for awhile with just the starting fluid and see if you can get the pump to pick up. If that doesn't work, take off the fuel line to the carb and turn it over to see if fuel is flowing. If so, your carb may need a rebuild. After 8 yrs it prolly will. Check the fuel filter too if it has one.

Welcome to the bolt! I would try a remote fuel source. You can use a plastic gas can. Get a couple feet of rubber fuel line. Attach to the inlet on the carb and attach to the vent nipple on the gas can. Make sure you don't have any leaks. Also make sure you have a working Fire Extinguisher with you!!! Try running it this way. If this works then you either have a plugged fuel line, bad fuel pump or a ton a "junk" in the tank plugging up the works.

Just a note: You may want to disconect the fuel line at the carb and place it in a bottle and then crank the engine and see if you are getting any fuel. If you do then it maybe the carb is the problem. If you don't get any fuel make sure to disconnect the fuel line from the tank to the pump . Just in case you start the truck with the remote fuel can you don't need the fuel pump "clearing" itself and start pumping fuel.

I wouldn't use the starting fluid for a very long time ae over and over it can do damage to the rings. What happens if you pour gas down the carb and try to start it?

Sometimes it works, but other times it sets the truck on fire.

Sounds to me like it's time for a carb kit.
