I've purchased a 1957 Suburban Carryall that currently has 37" super swampers and I'm guessing that it has about a 3" lift on it. Personally I like the thin & aggressive tread look of the old biased tires that some of you have on your original rides. I love the tall look of the Burb now, but I want to take it down a notch. I've searched long and hard and only found one real good looking biased tire with the tread pattern I like,( the "STA Superlug" 9.00 x 16") they sit at a frog hair higher than 36". The only other affordable option is a Cooper radial that's about 34" but the tread pattern is more like a modern tread that comes on all of the stock trucks of today. I guess what I'm asking is does anyone know of any other biased tires out there that are in the 34"-36" range that will fit on a 16" rim? I really don't want to spend over $ 200 a piece for them. Thanks

If you look in the back of any 4x4 magazine you'll find quite a selection of offroad tires in bias ply. The Super Swamper has a lug pattern that's not far off from the old traction tire if you find the right model. The narrowest I saw was a 10x36 on 16's. Then again they're over $200.

Swamper LTB's are cheap enough but they sure SING and they are not the best handlin tire ive owned..ran em on my Jeep for a few yrs ..they wore great .but were tough for a 16 yr old to handle in the cold wet winters of PA when I handed down the Ol Jeep to him.
Put Radials on the Jeep to keep him outta the gaurdrails.lol
For me they were just fine ..but I couldnt educate the Boy on how to drive em.

Not exactly what you are looking for... Aside from my stovebolt, I have an old LandRover. About ten years ago Bridgestone still made "Jeep Service" Tires. Which had the tread pattern you are looking for. About four years ago, when I was looking for more tires, I couldn't find them anywhere. So, from Coker Tire I bought a set of NDT Military type tires, and have been very happy. As above, though, they are a little slippery on ice. You just have to slow down. But in deep sand, mud etc, they are fantastic, they don't plug up, and on gravel they don't throw rocks. And they sound awesome. But, also not so good over 50 MPH.

they make a 7.50x16 about 35" high mudgrip in bias ply looks like the STA superlug. Here in Okla, our tire shops keep them for the farmers at about 100 a piece mounted. Looks skinny
